Verification · THE LAB AI Work Audit™
How do you know the AI output was right before you used it?
Verification is the step between “the AI produced something” and “we sent it.” In many workflows it is assumed rather than designed. This audit makes it explicit and gives your team a checklist they can run.
Verifying AI output is not the same as reading it. A fluent, confident draft can be wrong about a date, a name, a figure, a policy, or a fact that was never in the source material. Reading it tells you it sounds right. Verification tells you it is right.
In one session, THE LAB AI Work Audit™ traces where the output’s facts come from, which of them the model inferred rather than read, and what a short, repeatable check would look like for the person who sends it.
Signs verification is missing
Checks are about tone, not facts
Reviewers fix wording and polish. Nobody confirms the figures, dates, names, or commitments against a source.
The source is unclear
The output references information, but nobody can say which document, record, or prompt it came from.
Errors repeat
The same kind of mistake has been caught more than once, which means the check that would prevent it does not exist yet.
Verification depends on one person
One experienced team member catches most problems by instinct. When they are out, nothing catches them.
What the audit looks at
One workflow, examined end to end in a 60–90 minute session.
- Which facts in a typical output are read from a source, and which are inferred or filled in.
- What the person who releases the output actually checks today, step by step.
- The handful of checks that would catch the highest-consequence errors in the least time.
- Whether verification can be done by someone other than the current expert.
- How a failed verification is handled: corrected, escalated, or quietly fixed and forgotten.
You receive written findings within 48 hours: AI Workflow Map, Human Approval Gates, Verification Checklist, Three Priority Corrections, and a 30-Day Action Target. See the full method.
Questions
- Is the verification checklist generic?
- No. It is written for the specific workflow reviewed in the session, in your team’s language, and is intended to be short enough to actually run.
- Can verification be automated?
- Sometimes parts of it can. The audit focuses first on what a person must confirm; whether any of that can be tooled later is a separate decision.
- Is this a compliance certification or legal advice?
- No. The audit is an operational review of one workflow. It is not legal advice, a compliance certification, a cybersecurity penetration test, or a guarantee that risk has been eliminated.
- Do you need access to our systems or client data?
- No. The audit is a structured walkthrough with the people who run the work. We do not ask for logins, and we ask you not to share credentials or sensitive customer records.
