Small business · THE LAB AI Work Audit™
An AI workflow audit built for businesses with 10–99 people.
You did not adopt AI through a committee. Someone on the team started using it, it worked, and now it is part of how the work gets done. That is exactly the situation this audit is for.
In a smaller business, AI usually enters through the side door: a drafting assistant in the inbox, a summarizer on client calls, an automation that files, routes, or replies. Nobody wrote a policy, because nobody was asked to. Six months later, output from those tools is reaching customers, and the honest answer to “who checks it?” is “it depends.”
That is not a failure. It is the normal path. But it leaves the owner in an uncomfortable position: responsible for work they cannot fully see. THE LAB AI Work Audit™ exists to make one of those workflows visible end to end, in a single session, without a consultant engagement or a software purchase.
Signs a small-business AI workflow needs a look
The person who set it up has moved on
A prompt, automation, or agent is still running, but the person who understood its assumptions has changed roles or left.
Approval became optional
Drafts used to be reviewed before sending. Now they are reviewed when someone has time.
You learned about an error from a customer
The first signal that output was wrong came from outside the business, not from your own checks.
Nobody can reconstruct a specific output
If a client asked why they received a particular answer, you could not show what the AI saw and what it did with it.
What the audit looks at
One workflow, examined end to end in a 60–90 minute session.
- The one workflow where AI output most often reaches customers or outside systems.
- What the tool was actually asked to do, versus what the team believes it does.
- Where information is missing and the model fills the gap on its own.
- Which steps a human still approves, and which now move without a look.
- How anyone would verify a single output was right before it was used.
- What happens on the day it is wrong: who notices, who fixes it, how fast.
You receive written findings within 48 hours: AI Workflow Map, Human Approval Gates, Verification Checklist, Three Priority Corrections, and a 30-Day Action Target. See the full method.
Questions
- We are small. Is $500 for one workflow worth it?
- Only you can judge that, which is why the application asks what would make it worth $500 to you. The intent is that a single, well-examined workflow produces corrections you can apply to the others yourself.
- We use AI informally, not through a formal system. Does that count?
- Yes. Informal use is the most common case and often the least visible. If AI-generated work reaches customers, partners, or outside systems, there is something to audit.
- Is this a compliance certification or legal advice?
- No. The audit is an operational review of one workflow. It is not legal advice, a compliance certification, a cybersecurity penetration test, or a guarantee that risk has been eliminated.
- Do you need access to our systems or client data?
- No. The audit is a structured walkthrough with the people who run the work. We do not ask for logins, and we ask you not to share credentials or sensitive customer records.
